A financial advisor who puts you first.
Piedmont Capital Advisors is an independent, fiduciary financial advisory firm built around one plan: yours. Jacob Rice and his team build that plan around your goals, drawing from the full market, and you work with the same advisor from your first conversation onward. Talk it through with us at no cost, whether you're planning for retirement, reviewing what you already have, or want a second opinion.
How we work
A relationship, not a transaction.
We start with a no-cost conversation, then go through every account, policy, and document you have, find where they don't line up, and put the plan in writing so you can see it before deciding what to act on. Once it's in place, we keep watching it, meeting quarterly or annually depending on how much is changing in your life.
Independent means the advice comes first.
Jacob is a fiduciary, legally required to act in your best interest, and independent from any single company's investment lineup. That combination means a recommendation is chosen because it fits your goals, not because it's the only option on the shelf.
How we can help
-
Comprehensive Financial Planning
Your accounts, taxes, income, and estate reviewed together, so a decision in one area doesn't undo another.
-
Retirement Planning
Social Security timing, withdrawal order, required minimum distributions, and Roth conversions, mapped so you know where each dollar of income comes from.
-
Risk Management
A clear look at what could derail the plan, and whether the protection you already have still fits the life you have now.
-
Alternative Investments
REITs, BDCs, structured products, and hedging strategies, evaluated with the same suitability review as the rest of your plan.

Schedule an IntroductionYou're not limited to one company's investments
Jacob spent nearly ten years at one of the largest financial companies in the country. While he was there, he could only recommend that company's own investment products. In 2025, he and his brother Elijah started Piedmont Capital Advisors so they could make recommendations based on what will perform best for your plans and goals.

What happens when you call
-
The first conversation
We talk through where you are and what you're trying to sort out, at no cost, so you know before anything else whether we're the right fit.
-
Everything on one page
We work from the actual documents, statements for every account, every policy, every estate paper, because that's where the details that matter are hiding.
-
The written plan
We put the findings and recommendations in writing across one to three meetings, in plain language, so you can see the whole plan before you decide what to act on.
-
Implementation and review
We put the agreed pieces in place, then meet quarterly if your situation is changing often, or annually if it's steady, updating the plan as things change.
Who we work with
-
Families approaching retirement
who need to turn a lifetime of savings into reliable income and a clear answer on Social Security timing and withdrawal sequencing.
-
Professionals and business owners in their peak earning years
managing equity, tax exposure, and competing priorities.
-
Recent retirees
who want someone watching the plan as circumstances change, not a binder that gets filed away.

What does "fiduciary" mean?
It means Jacob is legally required to act in your best interest, not just recommend something that's good enough. Not every advisor has to meet that standard.
What's the difference between this and investment management?
Investment management is one piece. Comprehensive planning also covers income, taxes, risk, and estate, and its main job is making those work together. Plenty of people have well-managed portfolios inside badly coordinated plans.
What if I already have an advisor?
That's a common reason people call. We give second opinions regularly. We'll tell you honestly whether your current plan is serving you well, or if we can offer better options.
How long does it take?
Usually one to three meetings to build and present the plan, then reviews once or a few times a year depending on what fits your needs.
Do you only work with people in the Triad?
No. Most clients are here, but we work with clients all over North Carolina and beyond.
